Va-Jo-Wa Golf Course, nestled in the scenic town of Island Falls, Maine, offers a distinctive golfing experience amidst the natural beauty of northern New England. Established in 1965 by Vaughan Walker, a dairy farmer and logging contractor, the course was developed on land previously used for grazing cattle. The name "Va-Jo-Wa" is a combination of the founders' names: Vaughan, John, and Warren Walker.
The 18-hole, par-72 course spans 6,190 yards and is designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels. The front nine meanders through a valley alongside Pleasant Lake with Mattawamkeag Lake not far off the other side. The back nine ascends to a plateau, offering panoramic views of Mount Katahdin and the surrounding hills and valleys.
Va-Jo-Wa Golf Club is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and family-friendly approach.
